As a new parent to a very cute almost two-year-old, I’m constantly on the lookout for parenting hacks or products that will make this new life of mine a little bit easier. Enter the Lemo Highchair and Libelle Stroller.

Being a parent to a tiny human is no joke — not only do we need to keep them alive (100 per cent of the time!) we also need to keep them happy, kind and curious. It’s our job to instill the values we stand behind and raise caring and balanced adults. I repeat: no joke.

I spent many late-night hours combing the internet for the “best” of this and that before I gave birth, and found many products I stand behind to this day. The Cybex brand was introduced to me only recently, but was founded in Germany in 2005. It’s core principles — unique design, unsurpassed safety and quality and intelligent functionality — resonated with me. After reading all of the positive reviews, I wanted to try some of the products for myself. Below are two of the best — the Lemo, a highchair that grows with your child from birth into adulthood and the Libelle, a travel stroller that is one of the smallest and most compact on the market.

What: Cybex Lemo HighchairPrice: $449.95Where to buy: Best Buy | Nordstrom

What: Cybex Libelle StrollerPrice: $419.99-499.99Where to buy: Amazon | Amazon | The Bay | Good Buy Gear ($139.99 used)

Set-up: I set the chair up on my own with no issues. I followed the user guide that came with the chair — the entire setup took under 15 minutes using the Allen key that came with the chair.

Favourite features: Timelessness, safety, design

I love that this is a one-and-done chair — buy it once and it should last a lifetime. While I can’t confirm or deny that point, I will say that it is clearly made with high-quality materials that, if cared for properly, should last a very long time. My 25-pound child happily perches on it, as did my 190-pound partner during a test. He’s 37 years old and would rather sit in a chair that is wider and deeper, but this certainly does the trick and could be used as a spare. The chair is very steady and doesn’t move around, even when my toddler pushes her feet against the table Note: I haven’t tested the newborn Bouncer Nest.

Least favourite features: Straps attached to baby set insert rather than the chair

I find it frustrating that the safety straps that come with the Baby Set can’t be attached directly to the chair. It took a while for my toddler to get used to the baby set — I think she would’ve had an easier transition had the straps attached to the back of the chair. It would be great if future iterations of the product offered this option.

Where to buy: Best Buy, $449.99 | Nordstrom, $449.95

Set-up: The Libelle arrived all setup, so all I had to do was get acquainted with how to open and close the chair, how to adjust the safety harness and how to use the features. You can open the chair by unhooking the locking clasp and using a flick of the wrist. Once open, be sure to listen for the click of the frame to know it’s in its locked position — that’s it! Folding up the chair is equally as simple: press the two buttons on the handles, push down and fold, then lock the clasp. The harness straps are easy to adjust for the right fit, as is the leg rest. All-in-all, I toyed around with the chair for 15 minutes before I felt comfortable putting my toddler inside for a test run. I suggest watching these short explainer videos on YouTube if it’s your first time.

Favourite features: Compact size, lightweight, usability

Hands down, this traveller stroller folds up to be one of the smallest and most compact chairs on the market. Once folded, it’s about the size of a large briefcase. The only other chair I could find that was smaller, was the gb Pockit+, also made by Cybex. In terms of weight, it is on par with most of the popular, lightweight options, though if you really look, you’ll find a few options in the 10-12 lbs range.

I love that I can open and close it seamlessly — with one hand — and use my foot to lock it into position. Very valuable when wrangling a squirming toddler. The wheels turn and move seamlessly across most surfaces, and did a fantastic job maneuvering from cobblestones to dirt trails on a recent trip to England.

Least favourite features: No cup holder, too small for everyday use

I wish I could purchase a compatible cup holder for coffee or a water bottle, but I haven’t been able to find one.

This stroller does its job perfectly — excellent for travel — but I wouldn’t use this as an everyday stroller. My toddler is very comfortable and easily falls asleep when the seat is reclined, but I’d want something more solid and comfortable for her for everyday use.
